How Sound is Used in Contemporary and Ancient Psychedelic Practices to Heal and Transform Consciousness?
This paper explores the use of sound in both ancient and contemporary psychedelic practices as a tool for healing and consciousness transformation. This audio paper aims to be the enlightenment of ancient wisdom that has been silenced by dictatorship.
Chapter 1, The External Role of Sound, compares the ceremonial use of Icaros chanting in indigenous shamanic practices with the use of curated playlists in modern clinical settings, such as therapy for depression, PTSD. Neuroscientific research supports the notion that sound, particularly music, enhances connectivity between brain regions, facilitating emotional and cognitive healing.
Chapter 2, The Internal Role of Sound, delves into the personal experience of sound, focusing on how the learning and internalization of Icaros in ancient practices mirrors the shift in perspective induced by sound in contemporary settings. This chapter highlights how sound engages ecstatic unity and isolated egotism. Both communicate the knowledge of transformative experiences of consciousness.
Finally, Chapter 3, The Vibration of Consciousness, investigates how sound, both external and internal, resonates at the core of human consciousness. By examining both historical practices and modern therapeutic approaches, the paper underscores the evolution of sound’s role in expanding awareness, healing psychological wounds, and facilitating the shift toward a more integrated and conscious state of being and culturally. Ultimately, this study offers insights into the universal power of sound to guide consciousness during a psychedelic journey reach highest level of consciousness.
